About Katie Cate

I live in Burlington Vermont with my three wonderful dogs. I graduated from Trinity College in 1994 with a B.A. in psychology, and graduated from St. Michaels College with a masters degree in clinical psychology in 2000. I have been working as a clinical psychologist, treating patients for the past 25 years. I began to study and incorporate neurofeedback into my practice in 2015. I also enjoy training and supervising other clinicians who are using neurofeedback. Currently, my practice is dedicated to neurofeedback. My years of working as a therapist inform my work and lead to a deep understanding of various diagnoses, symptoms and how these impact people's lives.

Licensed Psychologist-Master

Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback used to teach people how to regulate EEG or brainwaves. Dysregulation of the brain is the cause of emotional, psychological and behavioral issues. It is a non-invasive, medication free way to treat many emotional and behavioral issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma and more. With specialized equipment, I create a brain map of overall EEG functioning and identify areas of dysregulation. Using this information coupled with client symptom reports, I use a computer software that mirrors the client's real time brainwave activity, teaching the client to promote optimal EEG in that area.
