About Joan Shaplin

Joan Shaplin has 33 years of experience as a Physical Therapy general practitioner, with 25 of those years at Fletcher Allen Health Care where she worked in acute care medicine, orthopedics, and later in the outpatient department.
Joan also has over 11 years of specialization in the treatment of women with breast cancer. Her clients have included those that have had swelling following mastectomies, lumpectomies, breast reconstruction, radiation treatment, lymph node removal, surgeries, infections, and trauma to the limbs. She is a lymphedema specialist, certified in The Vodder Technique, and is also certified with the Lymphedema Association of North America.
Joan recently returned to the Burlington community after developing a physical therapy program at the Nashville Breast Center in Tennessee and on the island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. She is also working on completing the Polestar Pilates Rehab training program and has begun integrating the Pilates method into her treatment methods at All Wellness.
